The Showroom and Events of NeoCon

HIGHLIGHTS FROM NEOCON 2019

If you’re like us, you’re both recovering from and reliving the magic of NeoCon after a week of amazing design and fabulous events. We’re back at the Create Centre reflecting on the show and all of the people we met.

THE SHOWROOM

Our NeoCon showroom this year was divided into two narratives: A Colour Study and the Need to Belong.

The front area of the showroom was a feast for the eyes. A Colour Study was made up of three collections: Gradation carpet tile, reFrame woven LVT and Dye Lab carpet tile. You can see a distinct digital to IRL influence in Gradation and reFrame, while Dye Lab’s refresh is all about experimentation and unpredictable visuals. We can’t wait to launch them this summer.

The Need to Belong was the space we set aside for our Community collection, a multi-faceted collection with carpet tile constructions, broadloom components, area rugs and a COREtec hard surface. From hanging broadloom blankets that showcased our new Tailor Tuft manufacturing capability to skeins of yarn used for the collection, this area of the showroom was hands-on. The Community wall was covered in stickers of visitors’ definitions of community by the end of the show.

THE EVENTS

Monday night was all about celebration. To kick off the evening, we hosted a small gathering to preview our sustainability journal, Two Degrees, before it launches this summer and to listen to a panel of speakers discuss how designers can ask and answer questions that move us closer to creating a more sustainable future. Deidre Hoguet from Designtex, Allon Libermann from Form Us With Love and Eric Corey Freed of organicARCHITECT and Morrison Hershfield were our panelists, with Sabine Rothman moderating.

Later that evening, we gathered with 2,000 of our closest friends and colleagues for drinks and dancing at City Hall (but not that City Hall).
